Please note that our policies for our Engagement & Wedding Collection differ slightly from our main collection, both are listed below: 


Policies for Engagement Collection

  • All pieces from our Engagement and Wedding Collection are final sale. 
  • All pieces are made to order and have a lead time of 2-6 weeks. If you need a piece by a certain date, email us at hello@ruthnyc.com with the piece you’re interested in and the date you need it by. We will always try our best to accommodate you. 

Stone Selection

  • Diamonds shown for preselection on our engagement ring listings are lab-grown diamonds, if you would like to explore responsibly sourced mined diamonds for your ring you can reach out to hello@ruthnyc.com
  • Diamonds selected by their carat weight may slightly exceed the selected weight by no more than 0.10 carats. Stones are cut individually and can vary slightly, this allows us a wider range of stones to select for you, ensuring you receive the best diamond available. 
  • You will never receive a diamond lower in carats than the selection you made. (ex. You select a 2 ct lab diamond, but our team finds the perfect stone that is 2.06 carats and selects that for you at no additional cost.)
  • All diamonds sold as center stones will be accompanied by a GIA or IGI certificate. Each diamond is measured and verified to ensure each stone matches the corresponding certificate. 
  • Our diamonds are all hand selected and personally examined by a skilled member of our team to ensure it meets our high quality standards. 
    • All diamonds selected by our team are graded D-H color. 
    • All diamonds selected by our team are graded VS at minimum and have no inclusions or imperfections visible to the naked eye. 
    • We only select diamonds with excellent cut, polish and symmetry as we believe these factors are among the most important when determining the beauty of a stone. A stone with a poor cut simply won’t have the brilliance or sparkle of a well cut diamond no matter the carat, color or clarity.

  • Shipping 
    • Our packages are shipped domestically through UPS and are fully insured. 
    • Our packages must be signed for upon delivery or signed for at time of pickup at a UPS access point of your choice. 
    • At this time we cannot guarantee secure shipping internationally, if you are based internationally and would like to pick up your ring locally in New York please contact us at hello@ruthnyc.com before placing your order. 

Custom Engagement 

  • All custom orders are final sale
  • Production begins as soon as 50% of the invoice is satisfied and is expected to take 4-8 weeks. During that time you may complete remaining payments in however many increments you choose. 
  • Once the custom piece is completed and the invoice is satisfied in full, your pieces will be shipped to you or made available for pickup
  • If invoices are not paid in full after 8 weeks, we reserve the right to retain the materials and payments made on the custom piece. 


Policies for our Core Collection

Our core collection refers to most offerings on our site outside of engagement rings or wedding bands. 

  • Returns and Exchanges
    • Each of our pieces are made to order, meaning each piece is initiated and produced by our small team specifically for you. Please consider this as you select the pieces you would like to order. 
    • If you would like to return a piece from our collection (non engagement/wedding band) please send an email to hello@ruthnyc.com with your order information to initiate a return within 7 days of receiving your order.  
    • If accepted, funds will be returned to your original form of payment and must be shipped back within 7 days from the date of return approval. 
    • Jewelry must be returned in its original condition, unused and in its original packaging. 
    • There is a 20% restocking fee for all returns. 
    • We do not accept returns due to sizing. If you would like to exchange your piece for a different size, we offer resizing for a $50 fee, plus additional shipping charges. 
    • Returns are not accepted on custom items, items sold as part of a sale, or on personalized engraved items. 
    • All discounted sale items are final. 
  • Lead Times
    • Most of our pieces are made to order. It can take between 2-6 weeks until your piece is completed and ready to be shipped. 
    • If for any reason you need a piece by a certain date, email us at hello@ruthnyc.comwith the piece you’re interested in and the date you need it by. We will always try our best to accommodate you. 
  • Shipping 
    • We ship all our packages domestically through UPS and insured through Shipsurance.
    • Orders with a total value of $1000 or greater must be signed for upon delivery. 
    • We offer both regular and expedited shipping options. Please bear in mind that since our pieces are made to order, choosing expedited shipping will not bypass our lead times of 2-4 weeks.  
    • All international packages are shipped insured with shipsurance and fulfilled by DHL, UPS, or a local partnered service provider.
